The “Tuyo De Capiz by Lorna’s Gourmet” was founded by a married couple, former OFWs from Roxas City, Capiz, who drew inspiration from the husband's in-laws' 30-year-old dried fish business. They began by making gourmet tuyo in olive oil and selling it to the Filipino community in Singapore, eventually turning it into a part-time business. However, when the pandemic caused job loss, the husband returned to the Philippines and pursued their gourmet tuyo business plan full-time, despite initial challenges with shipping and packaging. They diversified their offerings to include other dried fish products and chip snacks (such as crispy shrimp chips, squid rings, and sweet dillis), significantly increasing production and sales, especially during peak seasons. The business now also produces hundreds of bottles of gourmet tuyo weekly (roughly 480 bottles during peak season), supports local resellers, and has expanded successfully.
